Description
A Richard Frazier Original – Duration: 3 min.
A Grade III or IV piece composed to honor Joshua Abraham Norton (c. 1819 – 1880), a celebrated citizen of mid-19th century San Francisco. The tuneful melodies and countermelodies banter with one another to evoke the good-natured humor with which Norton’s “reign” was received. The form, compact with much motivic and melodic interconnection, is “crowned” by a jolly old-time “dogfight” in the trio. Principle melodies combine in the last strain for a stirring finale.
